Home Minister inspects BP Highway, stresses preparedness ahead of monsoon
Kathmandu, April 7 — Minister for Home Affairs Sudhan Gurung has conducted an on-site inspection of the BP Highway, holding discussions with stakeholders on maintaining its operation and minimising disaster risks during the upcoming monsoon season.
During the visit to the damaged sections of the highway, the Home Minister expressed concern over potential monsoon-induced disasters and directed security agencies to remain on high alert with strategic preparedness plans. He emphasised the need to learn from past disaster responses and adapt rescue strategies accordingly.

He also called for coordinated efforts with central disaster management authorities based at Tribhuvan International Airport.
The Home Minister further instructed central and district-level security units to enhance readiness and ensure effective response mechanisms are in place.
During the monitoring visit, officials, including Senior Divisional Engineer Suman Yogesh of the Division Road Office, Bhaktapur, Kunsang Lama, Mayor of Namobuddha Municipality, and Dinesh Lama, Chairperson of Roshi Rural Municipality, briefed the Minister on ongoing repair and maintenance works along the affected highway sections.
