Nepalgunj Customs Falls Short of Revenue Target

Ranjha, Banke, March 22: The Nepalgunj Customs Office has collected just over half of its annual revenue target in the first eight months of the current fiscal year.

Out of the total target of Rs 24.54 billion for FY 2082/83, only Rs 12.75 billion (52%) has been collected until mid-Falgun, according to Janardan Poudel, Chief of Nepalgunj Customs Office. He noted that collecting the remaining 48 percent in the last four months poses a significant challenge.

Monthly collection has consistently fallen short of targets, with percentages ranging from 69 to 88 percent over Shrawan to Magh. In comparison, the office collected 74.64% of its target in FY 2081/82 and 63.35% in FY 2080/81.

Despite expectations of higher revenue following the operation of the integrated check post at Jamunahana on the Nepal–India border, the customs office has been unable to meet the target.
