Mechi Customs Collects Rs 11.58 Billion in Eight Months

Bhadrapur, Jhapa, March 19: Mechi Customs Office has collected Rs 11.58 billion in revenue during the first eight months of the current fiscal year, achieving 96 percent of its target for the period.

According to Information Officer Ishwar Kumar Humagain, the office had aimed to collect Rs 12.55 billion by the end of Falgun. Of the total revenue collected so far, Rs 4.89 billion came from customs duty, Rs 220 million from customs duty export, Rs 63 million from other customs-related income, Rs 629 thousand from the export service fee, and Rs 100 million from the agricultural reform fee. Revenue from excise duty reached Rs 264.22 million, while the road maintenance and improvement fee contributed Rs 392.38 million. Both the infrastructure tax and health risk tax generated Rs 1.22 billion each, and value added tax on imports accounted for Rs 4.20 billion. Additionally, the green tax brought in Rs 132.35 million.

For the current fiscal year 2082/083, Mechi Customs has set an annual revenue target of Rs 18.87 billion, Humagain added, emphasizing that the office is on track to meet its goal.
