Justice System Gradually Returning to Track: Chief Justice Raut

Nepalgunj, March 18 — Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut has stated that Nepal’s justice system is steadily getting back on track, crediting improved coordination within the judicial sector.

Speaking during an interaction with legal practitioners in Banke on Tuesday, Chief Justice Raut discussed key issues, including judicial governance, restoration of damaged case files, and the need to reshape public perception of the judiciary.

He highlighted that priority has been given to managing case files destroyed during the Gen Z Uprising and rebuilding the justice system in its aftermath. According to him, around 19,000 of the nearly 20,000 case files lost at the Supreme Court have already been restored.

Raut also noted ongoing coordination with the Office of the Attorney General to reproduce case files destroyed in courts outside the Kathmandu Valley.

Calling for collective efforts, he urged legal professionals to support the restoration of case records and ensure effective delivery of justice. He further emphasized that both the judiciary and the legal community must adapt in a timely manner to meet evolving demands and challenges.
