Ghode Jatra being observed in Kathmandu today

Kathmandu, March 18: Ghode Jatra, the traditional horse festival, is being celebrated across Kathmandu Valley today. The event, held on Krishna Paksha of the Nepali month of Chaitra, is marked by vibrant festivities organised by the Nepal Army at Tundikhel in the capital.

Religiously known as Aswa Yatra, the festival coincides with Krishna Aunsi, a day before Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, which also marks the beginning of the New Year, according to the lunar calendar.

During the celebration, the Nepali Army cavalry showcases various equestrian stunts, drawing large crowds who come to witness the spectacular horse parade.
