Three firms fined during market monitoring in Kathmandu Valley
Kathmandu, March 18: The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has taken action against three firms in the Kathmandu Valley for violating consumer rights and trade regulations.
During recent market monitoring, the department fined Ekatagram Store located in Mahalaxmi Municipality-7, Changathali, Rs 20,000. Two other businesses—Kirana Ghar Trade and Suppliers and Ganapati Trade Suppliers based in Babarmahal—were fined Rs 5,000 each.
According to the department, the action was taken in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act 2018 (2075).
The monitoring team also directed 19 other firms to improve their business practices after finding irregularities during the inspection.
Officials said market monitoring has been intensified in recent days to control illegal trade practices and encourage fair business in the market.
