NC General Secretary Paudel calls for concessional fuel prices

Kathmandu, March 18: General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, Pradip Paudel, has urged the government to provide petroleum products at concessional rates to ease the burden on the public.

In a video message on Tuesday, Paudel said Nepal is facing rising prices partly due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, which has affected the cost of fuel and other commodities. He called on the government to take steps to ensure that essential petroleum products are available at lower prices.

Paudel warned that higher fuel prices would impact not only the transport sector but also other sectors of the economy. According to him, the increase in petroleum prices could lead to higher costs of daily essentials and construction materials.

He also stressed the need to promote vehicles powered by alternative energy to reduce dependence on petroleum products in the long term.

Paudel further expressed concern about the possibility of black marketing during such situations and urged authorities to strengthen regular market monitoring to prevent irregularities.
