Light rain with thunder likely in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki

Kathmandu, March 17: Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in parts of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces today, according to the Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Division said the weather is generally cloudy over the Himalayan and hilly regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, Sudurpaschim, Koshi and Bagmati provinces, while the remaining parts of the country are experiencing partly cloudy conditions.

Light rain along with snowfall has been recorded in a few Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the Himalayan region, while the hilly and Terai regions will see partly cloudy skies.

The Division said there is a chance of light rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two places in other Himalayan areas. Similarly, one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces may receive light rain with thunder and lightning.

According to the Division, the current weather condition in the country is due to the influence of a westerly low-pressure system.
