Motorcyclist Killed in Bus Collision in Sarlahi

Malangwa, March 15: A motorcyclist died after a passenger bus hit his motorcycle on the East-West Highway at Bagbani in Lalbandi Municipality–1, Sarlahi, on Saturday night.

According to the District Police Office, the bus (Lu. Pra. 03-001 Kha 0430) traveling from Biratnagar to Kathmandu struck the motorcycle (Pra2-03-015 Pa 3396) that was moving in the same direction.

The motorcyclist has been identified as Sunil Mahato, 35, originally from Chhapkaiya of Birgunj Metropolitan City–1 in Parsa district and currently residing in Nawalpur, Lalbandi–1.

Police spokesperson Saroj Rai said Mahato was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to the Provincial Hospital in Malangwa for treatment. He died during treatment at the hospital.

Police have taken the bus driver, Ganesh Basnet, 34, of Tulsipur Municipality–9 in Dang district, into custody for further investigation.
