Saudi Arabia condemns regional attacks; Nepal says no immediate evacuation needed for citizens in Gulf

March 12, Kathmandu: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, condemning attacks attributed to militias linked to Iran against Gulf states and Jordan.

In a statement, the ministry said the resolution—submitted by Saudi Arabia along with Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait—condemns attacks targeting residential areas and civilian infrastructure, saying such actions violate international law and threaten international peace and security.

The ministry also expressed the kingdom’s strongest condemnation of the targeting of the UAE Consulate General in Iraqi Kurdistan, describing the attack as a violation of diplomatic norms.

In earlier statements, Riyadh strongly condemned what it called Iranian attacks against Saudi Arabia and other member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, warning that continued attacks could escalate tensions and undermine regional stability.

The kingdom also conveyed condolences to the governments and peoples of Kuwait and the UAE following the deaths of members of their armed and security forces during national duty.

Separately, Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that there is currently no immediate need to evacuate Nepali workers from Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, although authorities remain prepared for possible rescue operations if the situation worsens.

The Ministry has also asked Nepali nationals in the region to remain alert and follow safety advisories issued by local authorities amid ongoing tensions in West Asia.

Meanwhile, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrated Flag Day on Wednesday.
