RSP Dominates Lumbini Province, Wins 21 of 26 Constituencies

Siddharthanagar (Bhairahawa), March 9 – The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has secured a sweeping victory in Lumbini Province, winning 21 out of 26 constituencies across the province’s 12 districts, according to the Election Commission.

The Nepali Congress and the Nepali Communist Party managed to win two constituencies each, while the CPN (UML) claimed one seat.

In Rupandehi district, RSP candidates claimed all five constituencies: Sunil Lamsal (Rupandehi-1), Sulabh Kharel (Rupandehi-2), Dr. Lekhjang Thapa (Rupandehi-3), Kanhaiya Baniya (Rupandehi-4), and Taufik Ahmed Khan (Rupandehi-5).

The party also performed strongly in West Nawalparasi and Kapilvastu. Bikram Khanal (West Nawalparasi-1) and Narendra Kumar Gupta (West Nawalparasi-2) won their seats, while Mohan Lal Acharya (Kapilvastu-1) and Bikram Singh Thapa (Kapilvastu-2) secured victories. Abhishek Pratap Shah of the Nepali Congress won Kapilvastu-3.

In Dang, RSP candidates Dev Raj Pathak, Bipin Kumar Acharya, and Kamal Subedi emerged victorious in constituencies 1, 2, and 3. RSP also won both Gulmi constituencies with Sagar Dhakal (Gulmi-1) and Govinda Panthi (Gulmi-2).

RSP candidates Thakur Singh Tharu and Shridhar Pokhrel won in Bardiya-1 and Bardiya-2, respectively. In Banke, Suresh Kumar Chaudhary (Banke-1) and Khagendra Sunar (Banke-3) were elected, while Mohammad Ishtiyak Rai of CPN (UML) won Banke-2.

The Nepali Communist Party secured Rukum West with its coordinator, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, and Barshaman Pun was re-elected from Rolpa. Sushant Baidik of RSP won in Pyuthan, while in Palpa, Sandeep Rana (Nepali Congress) won Palpa-1, and RSP’s Madhav Bahadur Thapa secured Palpa-2. Hari Prasad Bhusal of RSP also won in Arghakhanchi.

The results highlight the RSP’s growing influence in Lumbini, consolidating its position as a dominant political force in the province.
