Over 6,000 Votes Invalid in Two Tanahu Constituencies
Damauli, March 8: More than 6,000 votes were declared invalid in two constituencies of Tanahu district during the House of Representatives election held on March 5.
According to the District Election Office, a total of 6,252 ballots were invalidated across the two constituencies despite voter education programmes conducted in all wards with the help of volunteers.
District Election Officer Bikash Lamsal said 2,730 votes were invalid in Tanahu Constituency No. 1, while 3,522 votes were rejected in Constituency No. 2.
In Constituency No. 1, there were 126,882 registered voters, of whom 68,149 cast their votes. Among them, 65,419 ballots were considered valid.
Similarly, in Constituency No. 2, 66,100 votes were cast, out of which 62,579 were valid.
Election Officer Lamsal said ballots were declared invalid due to several reasons, including multiple markings on the ballot paper, stamps placed in incorrect locations, and submission of blank ballot papers.
