ANFREL lauds Nepal’s peaceful HoR election

Kathmandu, March 6: The Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL) has lauded Nepal for conducting the 2026 House of Representatives election in a peaceful and orderly manner.
In a statement, ANFREL highlighted the active participation of voters nationwide and praised the efforts of the Election Commission, polling staff, security forces, volunteers, and citizen observers.
Observers visited 303 polling stations across urban and rural areas, noting that essential election materials were largely in place and that voting proceeded smoothly. Around 72% of voters were able to cast their ballots within five minutes. Polling stations closed in an orderly manner, and voters in line at closing time were allowed to vote.
ANFREL said the calm environment and cooperation among stakeholders helped maintain stability throughout Election Day.
