UAE says it retains right to self-defence amid Iranian attacks

March 4, Kathmandu: The United Arab Emirates has reaffirmed that it has not altered its defensive posture in response to repeated Iranian attacks, stating that it continues to retain its legitimate right to self-defence under international law.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the country has been subjected to more than one thousand attacks, all of which were intercepted and neutralised by the UAE Armed Forces.
The UAE reiterated that it is not a party to the ongoing war and has not permitted the use of its territory, territorial waters, or airspace for any attack against Iran. It said this position is consistent with its long-standing policy of good neighbourliness, de-escalation, and commitment to the Charter of the United Nations.
The ministry also stressed the importance of journalistic responsibility, urging media outlets to rely on official and credible sources before publishing or circulating inaccurate or misleading reports.
Hundreds of thousands of Nepalis live and work in the UAE, and developments related to the country’s security situation are closely followed by families and authorities in Nepal.
