Dr Diwakar Bhatta Appointed Chairperson of Consumer Court

Kathmandu, Feb 24

The Cabinet on Tuesday appointed Dr Diwakar Bhatta as the Chairperson of the Consumer Court, acting on the recommendation of the Judicial Council.

Government Spokesperson and Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal confirmed the decision, stating that Dr Bhatta was serving as a judge at the Kathmandu District Court before his appointment.

Dr Bhatta holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from Tribhuvan University, where he graduated first in the first division from Nepal’s inaugural LLM programme. He also earned an LLM in international law and human rights from the University of Hong Kong, securing first division honours.

With over 20 years of experience in the legal and judicial sector, Dr Bhatta has also completed a PhD from Tribhuvan University. He has authored numerous research articles on law and justice and is recognised for his contributions to academic writing, research and professional training.

In addition to his judicial career, Dr Bhatta has been actively involved in conducting research and training programmes at national and international institutions, establishing himself as a respected legal scholar and subject expert.
