Strong Madhes Key to Safeguarding Federalism: Upendra Yadav

Rajbiraj, Feb 22:

Chair of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Upendra Yadav, has stated that strengthening the Madhes Province is crucial to reinforcing Nepal’s federal system.

Addressing an election publicity programme at Pathargadha in Dakneshwor Municipality, Saptari, on Sunday, Yadav described the Madhes region as the backbone of federalism, stating that it had led and sustained the movements that established the federal structure in the country.

He claimed that attempts were being made to weaken provincial authority and centralize power, calling such efforts contrary to the spirit of federalism. However, he expressed confidence that such moves would not succeed, asserting that Madhes remains vigilant and committed to protecting its rights.

Yadav, who is contesting the March 5 House of Representatives election from Saptari Constituency No. 3, urged stakeholders and voters to stay alert against any attempts to undermine federalism. He stressed that the current federal setup was achieved due to Madhes’ determined struggle and said the province must grow stronger to safeguard those gains.
