Leopard Captured After Causing Panic in Manamaiju
Kathmandu, Feb 22:
A leopard that had spread panic in Manamaiju of Tarakeshwar Municipality-10 was safely rescued on Sunday after wildlife officials tranquilized the animal.
The leopard had strayed into a residential area near the Manamaiju Temple on Sunday afternoon and entered the house of a resident, Anoj Mani Adhikari. The unexpected intrusion created fear among locals.
According to Paban Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kathmandu, the Division Forest Office team successfully brought the animal under control using a tranquilizer dart and secured it without further incident.
During the incident, the leopard attacked two locals—Dulal Maharjan and Mayanath Wagle—leaving them injured. Both have been rushed to a hospital for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.
Authorities have urged residents in the area to remain cautious, especially as human-wildlife encounters tend to increase in settlements bordering forested zones.
