Nepal Police Urge Traders to Carry Invoices for Cross-Border Transport
Rasuwa, Feb 20: Nepal Police have urged businesspersons and vehicle operators to carry proper invoices for goods transported through the Rasuwa Gadhi checkpoint and to comply with all customs regulations.
Officials highlighted concerns over a growing number of cross-border trades that bypass legal procedures. Ashok Thapa, Chief of the District Police Office in Rasuwa, noted that some traders have been using clandestine methods to move small quantities of goods across the Miteri Bridge, subsequently transporting them to Trishuli and Kathmandu via public vehicles.
To tackle illegal trade, police have stepped up inspections and warned drivers against carrying unauthorised items, stating that violations would result in confiscation and legal action. In recent months, the Armed Police Force has seized smuggled goods worth Rs 1,128,000, while Nepal Police confiscated items valued at Rs 185,000.
Authorities emphasised that adhering to proper documentation and customs duties is essential to ensure legal and secure trade across the border.
