Five seriously injured as bus plunges into Tamakoshi river in Ramechhap

February 10, Kathmandu: Five passengers were critically injured after a passenger bus met with an accident in Ramechhap district. The death toll has not yet been confirmed.

The accident occurred at Machhanetar in Manthali Municipality when a passenger bus veered off the road and plunged about 50 metres into the Tamakoshi River at around 11:00 am on Tuesday.

According to Ramechhap District Police Office, five seriously injured passengers were taken to Manthali Hospital for treatment. Police said their condition remains critical and further assessment is ongoing.

DSP Bhola Bhattarai of the District Police Office said eight other injured passengers were rescued and referred to different hospitals for medical treatment.

Police said the bus, bearing registration number Province 3–01–005 Kha 465, was heading towards Okhaldhunga from Kathmandu at the time of the accident.

The bus is currently submerged in the middle of the Tamakoshi River. Police said further details are awaited as rescue and investigation efforts continue.

The exact number of passengers onboard the bus has not yet been confirmed.
