President Paudel receives British Army delegation

Kathmandu – President Ramchandra Paudel received a delegation led by Major General Gerald M. Strickland of the British Army, who presented the annual report of the Gurkha Brigade for 2025.

President Paudel highlighted Nepal-UK cooperation on development, human welfare, and peace at international forums and noted that both countries share a common perspective on promoting global peace through UN peacekeeping missions.

He acknowledged the UK as a long-standing partner in Nepal’s development and expressed appreciation for the Gurkha’s role in strengthening bilateral relations. The President also mentioned ongoing diplomatic discussions to address the legitimate concerns of former British Gurkhas.

Major General Strickland praised the Gurkha Brigade for its frontline service and highlighted the respect and admiration the British public holds for Nepali Gurkhas, noting that recruits are reminded they are “sons and daughters of Nepal.”

The event was also attended by the British Ambassador to Nepal, Rob Fenn.
