EC Calls on Candidates to Submit Documents for HoR Nomination on January 20
Kathmandu, Jan 18: The Election Commission (EC) has directed candidates to appear at the Office of the Returning Officer in their respective constituencies with required documents to file nominations for the first-past-the-post (FPTP) category of the House of Representatives (HoR) election.
As per the election calendar, nominations for the FPTP system will be filed on January 20 for the HoR polls scheduled on March 5. Candidates must bring photocopies of their citizenship certificate and voter ID card.
The EC stated that all submissions must comply with the Voter’s Namelist Act 2073, HoR Member Election Act 2074, HoR Election Regulations 2074, HoR Election Directives 2082, and the Election Code of Conduct 2082. Candidates must also provide evidence of their inclusion in the voter’s list at any local level.
Additionally, candidates who have held positions in state-owned organizations must submit proof of resignation. A proposer and seconder are required along with the nomination form. Candidates representing political parties must present a formal nomination letter from the party’s central working committee or an authorized office-bearer.
Candidates are also required to submit their personal and property details to the Office of the Returning Officer in their respective constituencies.
