HoR Election: EC Publishes Closed List of 3,213 Proportional Candidates

Kathmandu, Jan 18: The Election Commission (EC) has released the closed list of 3,213 candidates submitted by political parties for the proportional representation category of the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election.

The list, made public on Sunday, includes candidates from 63 political parties contesting under 57 election symbols. EC spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said the publication was carried out in line with Section 25 of the HoR Proportional Election Directive, 2082.

Bhattarai added that anyone wishing to challenge the qualifications of a candidate can file an objection from January 19 to 24, following the format prescribed in the directive.

The announcement of the closed list is a significant step in the election process, aimed at ensuring transparency and fairness in the proportional representation system ahead of the polls.
