NC Returns to Its Ideals: President Gagan Thapa
Kathmandu, Jan 16: Newly elected Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa has called on all party members to move forward in a united and integrated manner.
In a press statement following the Election Commission’s recognition of the NC leadership elected at the Second Special General Convention (SGC), Thapa emphasized that the party now functions based on the rule of law, its statute, and established systems, rather than the interests of a few leaders. He expressed gratitude to the Election Commission and credited party members and well-wishers for their efforts toward meaningful transformation and national prosperity.
Thapa highlighted that the NC has returned to its core values, norms, and ideologies, urging all members—whether they participated in the SGC or not, and from grassroots to central levels, both domestically and abroad—to view the development as a reinforcement of the rule of law rather than a matter of win or loss. He stressed the importance of unity, responsibility, and restraint to maintain trust within the party.
The NC President also vowed an end to factions and power-centric alliances, asserting that all members, from grassroots to central leadership, have equal status. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to being democratic and people-oriented, aligning with both public expectations and the aspirations of the new generation, while institutionalizing past achievements and preparing thoroughly for the March 5 elections.
