Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal Merges with NCP
Kathmandu, Jan 14: The Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal has officially merged with the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), marking a new political alignment aimed at strengthening people-centric movements.
The merger agreement was signed at a special programme held in Kathmandu on Wednesday by NCP Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Joint Coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Senior Vice-Chairperson of Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal, Suman Sayami.
Speaking at the event, Coordinator Dahal said the merger would help address the problems of ordinary citizens, particularly in the Kathmandu Valley. He noted that leaders who have long been active in advocating for the rights of landless squatters, riverbank dwellers, residents of unplanned settlements and marginalized communities joining the NCP was a positive development.
Joint Coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal said the party now faces the key challenge of establishing itself as a centre of hope and trust for the people. He stressed the need for strong commitment and responsible leadership to meet public expectations.
Senior Vice-Chairperson Suman Sayami said the decision to merge was taken by placing ideology, principles and the long-term welfare of the people at the forefront. He expressed confidence that the NCP is best positioned to work for people’s freedom and social justice.
Former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal and senior leaders including Bamdev Gautam and Rajendra Shrestha, among others, attended the programme.
