Discipline and Dedication Pillars of a Cultured Society: Ex-Minister Pandey
Kathmandu, Jan 14: Former Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Pandey has said that self-discipline and dedication are the cornerstones of a civilized and cultured society.
Speaking at a programme organized by the Tindhara Sanskrit Hostel under Valmeeki Vidyapeeth of Nepal Sanskrit University in the federal capital on Wednesday, Pandey said mastery of both Sanskrit and English can enable individuals to assume leadership roles anywhere in the world. He stressed that a balanced knowledge of classical and modern languages broadens intellectual capacity and global opportunities.
On the occasion, Chief of Valmeeki Vidyapeeth Prof. Achyut Lamichhane highlighted the contribution of Sanskrit education in producing competent human resources in diverse fields including politics, literature, education, public administration and culture.
Senior journalist and political analyst Purushottam Dahal remarked that the Tindhara Sanskrit Hostel has played a significant role in nurturing political leaders, development experts, writers and cultural critics in Nepal.
The programme also honored former supervisors of the hostel in recognition of their contributions. Those felicitated included Vidyanath Upadhyay, Neelmani Dhungana, Purushottam Dahal, Ramchandra Gautam, Ramhari Dhakal, Yatiraj Bhattarai, Dhrubra Prasad Gyawali, Arjun Babu Dahal and Ravindra Neupane.
Participants underscored the importance of sustaining Sanskrit education and institutions like Tindhara Sanskrit Hostel for the preservation of cultural values and the development of disciplined leadership.
