NC Committed to Social Harmony, Good Governance and Prosperity: General Secretary Sharma

Kathmandu, Jan 11 — Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said the party is firmly committed to promoting social harmony, ensuring good governance and steering the nation toward prosperity.

Addressing the Second Special General Convention (SGC) of the NC in Kathmandu on Sunday evening, Sharma said the convention would take well-considered decisions in the best interests of both the country and the party. He emphasized that the disciplined participation of representatives would ensure that no decisions are made in haste.

Stating that the NC would emerge stronger rather than divided, Sharma said the party aims to consolidate itself as a capable force to lead the nation. He also expressed the need for a dignified exit of the current leadership, pledging to acknowledge past actions and correct existing shortcomings.

Highlighting the changing political landscape, Sharma said the NC must move forward with reforms in response to the Gen Z movement. He stressed that the party leadership should have the resolve to address the new generation’s demands for good governance.

Sharma cautioned against undermining the achievements of the Gen Z movement and called for an impartial investigation into the incidents that occurred on September 8 and 9.

On the context of the Special General Convention, Sharma said the agenda of party transformation gained momentum only after the leadership failed to respond to repeated calls for reform. He assured that all issues related to the party and the livelihoods of the people would be thoroughly discussed during the closed sessions of the ongoing convention.
