Government takes three decisions in favour of EPS passers bound for South Korea

January 8, Kathmandu: The government has taken three decisions in favour of individuals who passed the Employment Permit System (EPS) examinations for employment in South Korea but have not yet been selected due to various reasons.

The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has decided to request the South Korean government, through diplomatic channels, to extend the validity of the current EPS roster. The move aims to address concerns that many qualified candidates have been deprived of employment opportunities as the roster nears its expiry.

The Ministry has also decided to initiate diplomatic efforts to respond to the demand of workers listed in the EPS roster and to seek an increase in the quota of Nepali workers sent to South Korea under the system.

In addition, a task force will be formed to make recommendations to ensure transparency and fairness in the process, including the submission of personal details of roster-listed candidates to Korean employers.
