Curfew in Birgunj Extended Until 1:00 PM Today

Birgunj (Parsa), Jan 6: The District Administration Office (DAO), Parsa, has extended the curfew in Birgunj Metropolitan City until 1:00 pm this afternoon.

Earlier on Monday, the administration had imposed a curfew from 6:00 pm to 8:00 am today to prevent possible unrest. However, considering the prevailing situation, the curfew has now been extended from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, according to Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal.

The curfew was enforced to maintain law and order amid concerns of potential clashes between two ethnic communities. Authorities said efforts are underway to resolve the dispute through dialogue.

The DAO has clarified that vehicles providing essential services will be allowed to operate during the curfew period. Residents have been urged to coordinate with security agencies if they need to step outside their homes.

The administration has strictly prohibited gatherings, rallies and demonstrations within the curfew zone, which includes Bus Park in the east, Sirsiyapul in the west, Powerhouse Chowk in the north and Shankaracharya Gate in the south.
