Home Minister Aryal Inspects National Martyrs and Peace Park

Kathmandu, Jan 3: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Saturday inspected the National Martyrs and Peace Park Civil Servant Memorial at Gokarneshwor, Kathmandu, and reviewed its current status and operations.

According to Memorial Committee Chairman Sudarshan Sigdel, the Home Minister inquired about the overall condition of the park, its operational modality, and details of the martyrs whose names have been inscribed at the site. Minister Aryal also raised concerns regarding the inclusion of the names of 42 Gen-G Governance Warriors, the three Immortal Police, and other martyrs declared after the Comprehensive Peace Accord.

During the visit, the Memorial Committee submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister highlighting issues related to the park’s operation and calling for the inscription of the names of martyrs from the Gen-Z Movement.

Sigdel said the park currently bears the names of more than 2,000 martyrs officially declared by the state. He added that the management and operation of the park have faced uncertainty following the dissolution of the former Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction.
