CAN releases annual calendar

January 3, Kathmandu: The Cricket Association of Nepal has released its annual calendar of national and international competitions.

CAN Secretary Paras Khadka unveiled the calendar at a press conference in Kathmandu on Friday.

The domestic season begins in January with the Men’s Prime Minister’s Cup. The tournament will continue until April, covering the district to the central levels.

The national phase of the Women’s Prime Minister’s Cup will be held from May 2 to 20. Other events scheduled for May include the National School Cricket Championship, the Under-19 National Cricket Tournament and the CAN Youth Camp.

In June, CAN will conduct Level One Coaching Courses in all seven provinces. The National Twenty20 Championship will take place from June 15 to 25.

Level Two Coaching Courses and Pitch Curator Courses are scheduled for July. The Level One Umpiring Course will be organised in August. A women’s long-format tournament has been proposed for September and October.

The Nepal Premier League has been scheduled from October to November. October will also feature the Under-16 Boys and Girls National School Cricket Championship, along with inter-school, college-level and regional tournaments. Regional tournaments will continue in December.

On the international front, Nepal will host the global qualifier for the International Cricket Council Women’s Twenty20 World Cup in January. The Nepali men’s team will take part in the Twenty20 World Cup in India in February.

The men’s team will play the International Cricket Council League Two series in March. The women’s team is also set to play a bilateral series. The Under-19 team will tour Bhutan.

The men’s Asian Cricket Council Premier Cup will be held in August, along with a Twenty20 series against Kuwait. In September, the men’s team will play a bilateral series, while the women’s team will face the United Arab Emirates.
