Chief Secretary Aryal stresses quality statistics for good governance
Kathmandu: Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal has shared that statistics is not a mere technical matter but a vital element of good governance.
At a programme organised at National Statistics Office on the occasion of Statistics Day, 2082 here Thursday, Chief Secretary Aryal pointed out the need of understanding statistical governance for broader administration. Data helps boost overall economy, he said, adding that data carries meaning once it is made credible.
Chief Secretary Aryal argued the Statistics Act pave way for possibilities in this sector. The government would be benefitted much if inter-agency statistics working group is made further active, according to him.
“The Statistics Day deserves observation as a national day,” he said, assuring of government support for it from his side.
On the occasion, Deputy-Chief and Statistics Officer Dhundi Raj Lamichhane made a presentation on the Statistics Day. Office staffs making significant contribution were honoured.
