Nepal-China stress stronger economic cooperation and investment

Kathmandu, Dec 17: Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal has stressed the need to further strengthen economic cooperation between Nepal and China, with a focus on increasing bilateral investment.

Addressing a programme on Nepal–China cooperation and investment held in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Finance Minister Khanal said the Nepal government has introduced several economic reform measures to create a favorable investment climate. He stated that these reforms are aimed at ensuring confidence and security for foreign investors, including those from China.

The Finance Minister noted that Nepal and China could deepen economic ties by identifying priority sectors for investment, which would help attract more foreign capital and support Nepal’s development goals.

Speaking on the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song highlighted the multidimensional relationship between the two countries. He said China is keen to expand its investment presence in Nepal, particularly in sectors such as industry, energy, and infrastructure development.

Both sides emphasized the importance of closer cooperation to promote mutual economic growth and long-term partnership.
