Nepalis’ courage and determination unmatched: Minister Kharel
Kathmandu, Dec 16: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel has said that the courage and determination of Nepalis to achieve record-breaking feats is unmatched anywhere in the world.
He made the remarks while inaugurating the “Non-Stop Marathon TV Talk Show” in Kathmandu on Monday. The programme aims to set a Guinness World Record, with young journalist Gaurav Poudel attempting to host a continuous television talk show for at least 100 hours.
The record attempt is being broadcast by Prime Television. Minister Kharel gave the first interview of the marathon show to Poudel at the Skywalk Tower in Kamaladi.
Wishing Poudel success, the minister said Nepalis possess inherent talent, resilience, and the ability to endure challenges, enabling them to accomplish globally recognized achievements. He recalled the historic ascent of Mt Everest by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary on May 29, 1953, as a symbol of Nepalis’ courage on the world stage.
Journalist Rishi Dhamala and activist Durga Prasai also extended their best wishes to Poudel during the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Poudel said the talk show aims to highlight the ideas, capabilities, and creative potential of Nepali youth internationally, thereby promoting Nepal’s image worldwide. He is attempting to surpass the previous record set in April 2013 by then journalist Rabi Lamichhane, who hosted a television talk show for more than 62 hours.
