SAARC Secretary General Meets Vice President Yadav to Discuss Regional Cooperation
Kathmandu, Dec 5 – RSS — SAARC Secretary General Md. Golam Sarwar paid a courtesy call on Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav at his office in Lainchaur on Friday.
According to the Office of the Vice President, the two leaders held discussions on recent political developments in SAARC member countries, regional cooperation, and a range of other multidimensional issues.
Vice President Yadav assured full support from the Government of Nepal to the Secretary General in fulfilling his responsibilities. He also extended congratulations on the 40th anniversary of the signing of the SAARC Charter, noting that the people of South Asia continue to place strong expectations on the regional body.
Updating the Secretary General on Nepal’s political context, Yadav said the country is preparing for House of Representatives elections following the recent Gen-Z protests. He emphasized that the current government is dedicated to transferring power to elected representatives through the March 5 elections.
The Vice President reaffirmed Nepal’s longstanding commitment to the principles and objectives of the SAARC Charter and expressed confidence that the organization can serve as an effective platform to drive economic development, social advancement, and cultural exchange in the region.
Yadav further conveyed hope that consensus among member states would soon pave the way for convening the next SAARC Summit.
