Elections will not be disrupted: Home Minister Aryal

Dhangadhi: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has assured that upcoming elections will not be affected by looted weapons or escaped prisoners.

Speaking at a Far Western Province-level security seminar today, Home Minister Aryal said 727 weapons looted during the recent Gen Z movement have been returned, and efforts are underway to arrest 4,552 escaped prisoners.

He emphasized that the government is prioritizing dialogue and incorporating everyone’s concerns to ensure fair and timely elections with good governance and law enforcement.

Home Aryal also highlighted efforts to strengthen citizen-security personnel relations, maintain peace, and control crime. He noted the provincial government’s role in creating a conducive environment for elections.

Sudurpaschim Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah stressed unity in ensuring smooth elections, while Minister Hira Sarki called for government coordination with political parties to maintain security.

The seminar, chaired by Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Rameshwor Dangal, is attended by top officials from the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, National Investigation Department, Nepal Army, and Chief District Officers of all nine districts. Discussions will focus on provincial-level security challenges.
