NPBC to represent Nepal in World Boxing Council convention
Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta Paschim), Nov 28: The Nepal Professional Boxing Commission (NPBC) will participate for the first time in the World Boxing Council (WBC) convention.
Two people including Nepal Boxing Association’s national referee Dipesh Sharma will participate in the convention, under the leadership of Commission Chairman Rajan Bikram Prajapati.
Chairman Prajapati said that Nepal is set to make its formal debut at the WBC 63rd Annual Convention to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from November 30 to December 5.
He said, “Extensive dialogue and discussions on important topics such as new policies in international boxing, updates on player safety standards, and improvements in training and health systems will be held in the assembly which will see the participation from more than 150 countries.”
National boxing referee Sharma said that Nepal’s boxing would move forward with more energy after participation in the WBC convention.
He said, “Recently, an increasing interest is seen in boxing in Nepal. Therefore, after returning from the conference, it is believed that one will be able to engage effectively and energise the players further,” he said, adding, “Participating as a referee in the official group is a matter of pride for Nepal and especially for Nawalparasi.”
