PSB Nepal Marks First Anniversary: Launches English Channel ‘NTV World’

Kathmandu, Nov 9: The Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) Nepal has completed one year since its establishment, marking the milestone with the official launch of its new English-language television channel, NTV World.

President Ramchandra Paudel is scheduled to inaugurate the new channel amid a special ceremony later today, according to PSB Executive Chair Dr Mahendra Bista.

Formed through the Public Service Broadcasting Act, 2081 (2024), PSB Nepal was established by integrating Nepal Television and Radio Nepal. The Act was enacted following extensive discussions and recommendations from multiple task forces and a commission comprising media experts.

The transformation converted Radio Nepal—originally formed under the Radio Broadcasting Service Development (Committee) Formation Order, 2041—and Nepal Television—established under the Communications Corporation Act, 2028—into a unified public service broadcasting agency.

Over the past year, PSB Nepal has been delivering quality, reliable, and informative public service content. The newly launched NTV World channel aims to enhance Nepal’s visibility globally by broadcasting English-language programs that promote a deeper understanding of the country’s culture, society, and development among international audiences.
