NC leader Koirala discusses party stalemate
Kathmandu, Oct 31: As the party has seen intense dispute whether to hold the regular general convention or the special one, the Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala discussed with party office bearers on the party stalemate.
He talked to the office bearers about how the current deadlock in the party could be cleared. The party leaders close to him attended the discussion held at his contact office, Bishalnagar, on Friday. Vice President Dhanraj Gurung, General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma and Joint Secretaries Jivan Pariyar and Badri Pande were in the meeting, according to Dr Koirala’s personal secretary, Dinesh Chandra Thapaliya.
Following the September 8-9 Gen Z protest, the Nepali Congress has witnessed a heated debate over whether to hold the regular general convention or a special one. The central committee meeting is yet to conclude this end.
Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who was injured in the Gen Z protest, however, named Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka as the Acting President of the party.
