Nepal Mountaineering Association urges climbers and trekkers to avoid travel to high mountain areas

Kathmandu: The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has urged climbing teams and trekkers to avoid high mountain areas due to excessive snowfall.

In a notice issued today, NMA President Phur Gelje Sherpa advised travelers to stay in safe locations, avoid crossing mountain passes, and maintain regular contact with trekking companies and the association to ensure their safety.

The Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has also warned of light to heavy snowfall in hilly and mountainous regions over the next few days and urged travelers to exercise extra caution before venturing into these areas.
