UML youth leaders demand to make public those involved in arson and vandalism

Kathmandu: Youth leaders of the CPN (UML) are urging the government to apprehend and publicly identify those responsible for vandalism and arson during the Gen-Z protests held on 23rd and 24th Bhadra (September 8 and 9).

In a joint statement released today, UML central member and outgoing minister Bhagwati Neupane, along with Politburo member Shanta Chaudhary, central members Parbati Rawal, Aindra Sundar Nembang, Govinda Thapa, and UML Education Department member Dr. Sundari Pokharel, called for the government to reveal information about those arrested thus far and the legal actions taken in relation to the protests.

The leaders are insisting that the identities of those who set fire to both government and private properties, as well as those involved in looting, be disclosed, along with information regarding the number of weapons and ammunition seized.

The statement emphasizes, ‘It is essential to provide daily updates to the public regarding the individuals detained for inciting unrest during the demonstrations, damaging public and private property, and committing arson, along with the legal proceedings initiated against them.’
