Three Indians detained for possession of illegal drugs at TIA

Kathmandu: Police have apprehended three Indian nationals for carrying substance that appears to be marijuana.

The trio was intercepted at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) with approximately seven kilograms and 295 grams of the contraband, police said.

According to Binod Ghimire, Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police, the individuals taken into custody include 25-year-old Hargovind Singh, 19-year-old Samir, and 27-year-old Firoz Ahmed Sampad.

Ghimire said the three were arrested in the customs area of the TIA on Friday afternoon and they were made public today.

Hargovind and Samir, who arrived in Kathmandu from Bangkok on an Air Asia flight, were found with three kilos and 540 grams, while Sampad, who traveled from Mumbai on an Indigo Air flight, was caught with three kilos and 655 grams of the suspected drugs, police added.

The spokesperson confirmed that the detained individuals have been transferred to the Narcotics Control Bureau for further investigation and action.
