EC reviewing applications of 15 new political parties

October 24, Kathmandu: The Election Commission of Nepal is currently reviewing documents submitted by 15 new political parties seeking registration.
According to the commission, 10 parties applied for registration before the announcement of the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026, while five applied afterwards.
Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai stated that applications meeting the necessary criteria will be approved.
While applications for party registration can be submitted at any time, there has been a notable surge in new party formations, particularly involving youth participation, following the Gen Z movement, the formation of a new government, and the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
The commission is thoroughly examining the documents to ensure compliance with the registration process.
