Farmers, business people urged to implement paddy’s support price

Sudurpaschim: The District Administration Office, Kailali, has asked the farmers and business community to fully implement the support price of paddy fixed by the government.

Issuing a press statement, the District Administration Office has urged the stakeholders to abide by the government decision against the complaints from farmers that they were not provided with the due price for the paddy.

Earlier, the government had fixed the support price for paddy from Rs 3,463 to Rs 3,628 per quintal.

However, the farmers have not received the minimum support price determined by the government.

Keshav Pathak, a farmer from Kanchanpur, said that the farmers were not getting the rightful price for the paddy due to the traders’ monopoly. He said that the business persons have not offered more than Rs 2,650 per quintal.

According to Pathak, the farmers could not get a good price for the paddy also due to massive imports from India.
