Minister Kharel honoured with ‘Hari Prasad Kalyani Rimal Sanchar Puraskar’

Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, has been honoured with the ‘Hari Prasad Kalyani Rimal Sanchar Sewa Puraskar (Award)’.

The award was conferred on Minister Kharel at a programme organised by the Hari Prasad Kalyani Rimal Drama and Music Academy at Jamal-based National Cultural Undertaking today. On the occasion, Academy Chairperson Prof Dr Basudev Tripathi honoured Minister Kharel with a shawl, copper plaque and cash.

The award was presented to Minister Kharel for his true advocacy for the people, and voicing for the country and people, especially through television journalism.

Similarly, singers Mira Rana and Dhiraj Rai have also been honoured with the ‘Hari Prasad Kalyani Rimal Special Drama and Music Award’.

The award, established in the name of first singer of Radio Nepal, actor late Hari Prasad Rimal and his wife Kalyani Rimal, is presented to different individuals for their significant contribution in music, drama and media sector. Minister Kharel said the award received as a media person has given him additional energy and inspiration.

‘I am here not from the position of the minister. I was an active media person till September 21. Now, my role is different and I have taken the responsibility of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. I as a media person decided to receive such a big award presented by a prestigious organisation,’ opined the Minister.

Also the spokesperson of the government, he shared that they would involve round the clock to carry out the activities as per the spirit of Gen-Z protest in next five months.
