Nepali national cricket squad receive visa for UAE, team leaving today
September 22, Kathmandu: The Nepali national cricket team has been granted visas to travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to play the Unity Cup International T20 series against the West Indies. The team is set to depart for the UAE today.
Following the Gen-Z demonstrations held on September 8–9, the UAE had temporarily banned issuing tourist and labour visas to Nepali citizens. This decision had also affected the national cricket team’s travel plans. However, the visas were granted on Sunday at the call of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).
According to CAN spokesperson Chhumbi Lama, Nepal will play three T20 matches against the UAE. All matches will be held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
