48 who escaped from prison and Child Reform Homes in Banke arrested
Nepalgunj (Banke), Sept 13: Out of the 342 juveniles and inmates who escaped from two Juvenile Reform Homes and one prison in the district, 48 have been arrested so far.
The police stated that 294 are still at large, and a search is ongoing. According to the juvenile rehabilitation centre and Naubasta prison, among the 195 juveniles who escaped from Naubasta Child Reform Home and Duduwa’s Jayandu Child Reform Home, 35 have been arrested, and among the 147 prisoners who escaped from Naubasta prison, 13 have been arrested.
Kishor Sharma, the chief of Jayandu Child Reform Home in Duduwa, informed that among the 228 child inmates, 115 had escaped, and 21 have been arrested. Furthermore, he stated that 94 individuals are still being sought. Shyam Bahadur Rana, the head of the Naubasta Child Reform Home, informed that among the 172 child inmates there, 80 had escaped, and of them, 14 have been arrested.
He also noted that six were apprehended from Banke and eight from Lamahi, Dang. The search is on for 65 juvenile delinquents from Daso Reform Home. According to Jailer Jalandhar Bhusal, 13 out of 147 inmates who escaped from Naubasta Prison have been recaptured so far, and the search for 134 others is ongoing. There was a total of 585 inmates in that prison.
Among the 48 apprehended, some returned voluntarily, while most were arrested after being searched for by the district police office, Banke. The police have stated that those still at large, both juvenile delinquents and inmates, are requested to return, and if they do not return, they will be searched for and apprehended.
