Three police personnel confirmed dead
Kathmandu, Sept 10: Three police personnel injured in the violence that took place during the Gen-Z protests have died.
Nepal Police Central Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General of Police Binod Ghimire, confirmed that Sub-Inspector Milan Rai and Police Constable Uttam Thapa of Maharajgunj Police Range and Police Constable Amrit Gurung of Koteshwor police office died in the course of medical treatment today. With this, the death toll since the protests began on September 8 has reached 22.
Earlier, 19 youths were shot dead by police during the first day of the agitation. More than 400 others were injured. Meanwhile, Ghimire shared that more than 13,500 prisoners and about 500 detainees have escaped from various prisons across the country so far. Of them, some have been arrested.
