PSB Nepal holds first council meeting
Kathmandu: The first council meeting of the Public Service Broadcasting Nepal (PSBN) is held today at the central office of Nepal Television in Singha Durbar.
In the meeting, Council Member Secretary and Executive Chairman of PSB Nepal Dr. Mahendra Bista presented details on policy and managerial progress made since the formation of PSB Nepal through the merger of Radio Nepal and Nepal Television.
Council Chair and Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung thanked PSB Nepal for its reform initiatives and emphasized the need to run more effective, people-oriented programs to meet the objectives outlined in the Public Service Broadcasting Act.
Communication Secretary Radhika Aryal and Federation of Nepali Journalists President Nirmala Sharma also participated in the meeting as council members.
The council further discussed the completion of the 15-member body, as envisioned in the Act, which provides for policy formulation and guidance for PSB Nepal’s work.
Following the meeting, Minister Gurung inspected the under-construction studio of NTV World, which is in its final phase of operation.
