Dispute between Nepal and India must be resolved through mutual understanding: Law Minister

 

Birgunj (Parsa), Aug 30: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajaya Kumar Chaurasiya has said that the problems that have arisen between Nepal and India must be resolved through mutual understanding.

While speaking at the ‘Nepal-India Cross Border Media Conclave 2025’ organised by Media for Border Harmony, he emphasised the need to resolve disputes through coordination and cooperation between the two countries. Minister Chaurasiya said, “The two countries have maintained a cordial relationship for centuries. Although there are various ups and downs in the relations sometimes, they must be resolved through understanding.”

Madhes Provincial Assembly member Shyam Patel argued that although the Indo-Nepal bilateral relations were very cordial and simple in the past, it has become sensitive in recent times. He emphasised that the media must collect and disseminate news based on investigative and factual reporting to foster a cordial relationship between both countries. Similarly, the executive chairman of the National News Agency (RSS), Dharmendra Jha, mentioned that the relationship between Nepal and India has remained cordial and friendly at the grassroots level, and stressed that the media should also play a constructive role in further strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

Senior journalist Hasta Gurung emphasized the need to expand the friendly relationship between Nepal and India starting from the grassroots level. Former ambassador Bijay Kant Karn expressed the view that there are no borders among the people, even though there are political borders between Nepal and India. Forum’s Nepal president Anil Tiwari stated that the programme would play a supportive role in expanding and promoting mutual relations between the media of both countries.

Forum’s India President of India, Amarendra Tiwari, emphasized that the media should effectively and smoothly communicate the relationship between the two countries, which has existed for decades. Secretary Ritesh Tripathi informed that around 100 participants, including editors, journalists, communication experts, policy makers, and digital content creators from both countries, attended the media conclave.
