Corruption Case filed against Land Revenue Office Chief
Kathmandu, Aug 13: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a chargesheet against Chief of the Land Revenue Office, Bhaktapur, Kumar Acharya, in the Special Court, Kathmandu, on Tuesday, on charges of corruption.
Office Assistant, Tikaram Raut, has also been named in the chargesheet as one of the accused. A team from the CIAA head office in Tangal has taken control of the duo while taking a bribe of Rs. 2.45 million for developing a land ownership certificate in the name of the tenant of the 14.4 ropani of land in Changunarayan Municipality, Bhaktapur, shared Commission spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Poudel.
The mobile phone of Acharya and his office assistant, and bribe money worth Rs. 2.45 million were seized from the premises of the Land Revenue Office in Bhaktapur. Meanwhile, the Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release of 19 people, including Milan Gurung (Chakre Milan), on bail.
Deepak Kumar Shrestha, Information Officer of the Kathmandu District Court, told RSS that the court has ordered the release of Chakre Milan on bail of Rs 30,000. Eighteen others have also been asked to be released on different bail amounts. Chakre Milan and members of his gang were arrested Shambhala Hotel in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu on July 31.
